Area Hotels
Austin has a number of hotels in the Auction area. The hotels listed are reasonably priced and relatively close to the auction site. Listed prices are based on Expedia.com on Monday February 9, 2009 for an arrival date of April 17 (one night) Assembly 206 is not recommending these hotels, but they are provided as a guide.

Baymount Inn

2 1/2 Stars, 3.5/5 Travelers' Recommendation
7100 North IH 35

Complimentary breakfast included. Note: This is an old La Quinta. You may get a better rate on the AAA or Baymont site. The rate was checked on March 3, 2011 for booking on April 16 for one night.  The Expedia rate was $47.  It is about three miles from the auction, but this is a really good rate.

Hilton Garden Inn

3 1/2 Stars, 4.2/5 Travelers' Recommendation
Near 6th & IH 35

European wading pool with spa tub and waterfall. 24 hour fitness center. Note: This hotel is within two blocks of Esthers' Follies and about a five to six block walk from the auction site. Expensive at $205 per night and that doesn't include a $25 parking fee valet of not.  Not Recommeded.

La Quinta Capitol

2 1/2 Stars, 3.8 Travelers' Recommendation
300 East 11TH Street

Note: This hotel has been completely remodeled and better than most La Quintas. However you will probably think that the rate for a La Quinta is quite high and it is, especially when you throw in parking which will run you $12.50 in extra charges. You can save on this by parking on the street which is "free" after 5:30 p.m. on Friday. This has been our headquarters hotel in the past since it is just two blocks from the auction site and our out-of-town auctioneers used it three years ago. We just got an updated rate on the La Quinta web site.  It is $129 a night and you might be able to do better at the AAA web site or Expedia.  Great location, but don't forget the added parking rate here.

La Quinta Highland Mall

2 Stars
North IH 35

Located about three miles from the auction site. Free parking, free breakfast.

THE 2011 RATE ON EXPEDIA WAS $65 PER NIGHT.

Motel 6

There are a number of Motel 6 lodges in the Austin city limits. We have not listed information on individual locations, but rates were from $49.99 to $55.95 per night last year.  I've checked one current rate and it is $39.99 which is cheaper than last year.  Just saw the rate on the motel a day or two ago.  Three locations are within five miles of the auction site. Two are on the west side of North IH 35 and one is on the east side of South IH 35.  Here are three Motel Sixs that I checked this evening (March 7, 2011):
The rates listed below are from last year, I saw a $39.99 rate at one of these three locations a day or two ago (2011).
9420 IH 35 North, $49.99 (NOT RECOMENDED, BAD AREA OF TOWN)
5330 IH 35 North, $55.95
6603 IH 35 North, $53.00 (Queen Bed only available here)
There are several others near downtown and their price range should be similar.

OMNI HOTEL SOUTHPARK

4 Stars
South IH 35

Located about four miles from the auction site.  This is the site for the T.A.O.M. board meeting on Sunday at 1 p.m.  This hotel has a nice fitness center and indoor/outdoor pool.  If you come in on Friday, try the Onion Creek Grille for the best pasta bar in Austin. We have booked eight rooms here.  Be sure to mention the Austin Magic Auction and T.A.O.M. for the $119 rate that we were able to get.  Expedia has a rate of $116, but you can't book directly with the hotel.

SHERATON CAPITOL HOTEL

4 Star Hotel, 11th & IH 35  We are currently working on an update of our hotels, but our auctioneers will definitely be staying at this quality hotel.   Prices listed were for 2009 and will be updated shortly.

This hotel was our headquarters hotel for both the 2010 auction and T.A.O.M. 2010.  It is a short walk to Austin Auction Central (about three blocks) and had an Austin Magic Auction room rate of $99 per night.  The best rate we could obtain for 2011 was $149, so forget this one.
